Endovenous Thermal Ablation

This innovative approach to vein treatment has been used effectively for the past decade to help patients say goodbye to unsightly varicose veins without invasive surgical procedures. Endovenous thermal ablation (EVTA) uses a small laser fiber, which is carefully threaded into the diseased vein. Heat is applied, which causes the vein to collapse and then close completely. The procedure is highly effective, and requires no recovery time like traditional vein stripping.

Dr. Kanter performs EVTA for Laguna Niguel residents right in his conveniently-located Irvine office. A local anesthetic is used prior to the procedure to ensure complete comfort throughout. Treatment takes only thirty minutes to complete, and most patients resume their normal daily activities the next day.

As the first to introduce this radiofrequency treatment to patients in Orange County, Dr. Kanter and his team are now providing VeinGogh to residents of Laguna Niguel right in his Irvine office. This treatment is an effective way to minimize the appearance of unsightly small spider veins, through short bursts of radio frequency energy aimed directly at diseased vein areas. The applied energy seals veins shut, so they fade from view completely.

VeinGogh is a non-invasive treatment for spider veins that involves little discomfort and requires no downtime afterward. Laguna Niguel patients can expect to see positive results from their treatment in one to two weeks. The treatment is often recommended on networks of spider veins that are too small for sclerotherapy injections. This procedure has been offered by the Vein Center of Orange County since 2010 and has produced many happy patients who are satisfied with the results of their treatment.

Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy

Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy is a good option for treating deeper, diseased varicose veins that are not good candidates for EVTA. This procedure has been around for more than two decades; Dr. Kanter was one of the pioneers of this treatment back in the early 1990s. Today, Dr. Kanter offers ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy to Laguna Niguel residents right in his Irvine office, making the treatments as convenient as they are effective.

Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy uses injections of a sclerosant agent directly into the diseased vein to make the walls of the vein stick together and collapse. Ultrasound imaging technology is used to help Dr. Kanter find the precise location of the vein below the surface. The procedure is particularly effective on veins that are torturous, small, or fragmented from previous treatments. Laguna Niguel patients who receive ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy are typically back to normal activities as soon as the procedure is over.

Sclerotherapy continues to be considered the gold standard of spider vein treatment by most physicians today. Dr. Kanter performs the treatment at the Vein Center of Orange County in Irvine for Laguna Niguel residents who want to say goodbye to spider veins for good. The procedure involves the injection of a solution directly into the diseased vein, causing the vein walls to stick together and the vein to collapse.

No anesthetic is required for the procedure. Because small needles and an FDA-approved solution are used, Laguna Niguel patients experience little discomfort during treatment. Recovery time is minimal, but Dr. Kanter does recommend patients wear compression stockings and avoid strenuous aerobic exercise for a few days after the procedure. However, normal activities can be resumed as soon as the procedure is completed.
